Our style also takes root in several traditional martial arts forms. The style name was selected by taking the second word of each style below as it was learned throughout Sensei Tim Hoover’s Martial Arts path.

TAE KWON DO A Korean art form. We use feet, leg and kicking techniques from this system forming our Phase 1 techniques.

SHORIN RYU / GOJU RYU An Okinawan art form. This form provides the framework for our upper body strikes, stances and blocks which are considered Phase II techniques.

KUNG FU A Chinese art form, otherwise known as Pai Lum, consisting of passive movement, grace and fluidity. This system teaches us fluidity and balance with passive movements that we use mostly for evasive tactics.

TAI CHI CHUAN “The mind and body.” This Chinese art form helps the student learn the concept of energy. We use this system for breathing exercises, meditation and strengthening of the inner core.

DO “The Way Of.” or “The Path.” By the way of all these forms collectively put together, we come to our style of

KWON RYU FU CHI DO

Our students learn a combination of skills from each of the above systems at each belt level from white to 5th Degree Black Belt.

Kwon Ru Fu Chi Do is a mixed martial art self defense system. It uses a fully integrated methodology designed to take students from white belt beginner to 5th Degree Black Belt.

At each belt level, the student learns a new and different martial art curriculum designed to continually challange both physically and mentally by involving a never-ending cycle of learning and achievement – challenging the inner self which ultimately refines character.

Our style includes a full range of fighting encounters, or phases, that use both passive and aggressive approaches of the Martial Arts.

Phase I – From Korean Tae Kwon Do – requires the use of legs, allowing only 2 to 4 feet of distance between opponents.

Phase II – From Okinawin Shorin Ryu and Gojo Ryu Requires the use of arms, hands and elbows, and allows approximately an arm’s length between opponents.

Phase III – From Chinese Kung Fu and Japanese Jiujitsu – No space is given between opponents, and therefore, requires the use of grappling fighting skills.

Phase IV – From Chinese Kung Fu and Japanese Jiujitsu – Takes place on the ground and requires the use of ground fighting skills.

Other martial art forms that contribute to our style are the grappling arts of Hapkido and Aikido. These styles bring our stand-up Grappling Phase lll and our Ground Fighting Phase lV together which completes our system.
