Hoover Karate Academy participates in a number of community projects throughout the Lehigh Valley area and beyond.
Individually we are limited, but together we can do anything.

Eddie Yurickones, Jr. Memorial Break-A-Thon
Our longest running community service project is the
Eddie Yurickones, Jr. Memorial Break-A-Thon, which honors a fallen student and dates back to 1996. Each year, HKA students come together to break 1,500 wooden boards to raise funds for local and national organizations. To date HKA students have raised over $200,000 with all proceeds being donated to various charities. In past years, proceeds from
this event have been donated to Camelot House, Dream Come True, Crime Victims Council of the Lehigh Valley,
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Pennsylvania State Police Troop M’s Camp Cadet.
Baked Ziti Dinner
Each year, together with The Swain School in Allentown, HKA members donate their time to cook and serve at the annual Baked Ziti Dinner, which benefits both Kids4Kids United, Inc and the Sri Yasodara Orphanage in Sri Lanka.
Kids4Kids United, Inc.
Stemming from the EYJ Break-A-Thon is the Kids4Kids United, Inc. scholarship program, a 501©3 non-profit organization providing martial arts scholarships to at-risk students throughout the Lehigh Valley. HKA became the founding martial arts academy with three recipients in 2004. Today, Kids4Kids United, Inc currently has six participating martial arts academies and close to thirty scholarship recipients. Triathlon
Finally, HKA members drop their belts and pick up their running shoes every September to take part in a triathlon. Proceeds from this event benefit the children of fallen Navy S.E.A.L. warriors.
